Among the natural curiosities of the Dordogne-Périgord destination, we must mention its exceptional gardens. From the most classic to the most contemporary, Dordogne-Périgord has 33 parks and gardens, 14 of which are "Jardin remarquable". Discover the art and know-how of the Dordogne-Périgord gardens.

Gardens of Losse Castle

For its third edition, the Fondation Signature - Institut de France has awarded the prize to the gardens of the Château de Losse in Thonac. With a Renaissance spirit, they exude a bohemian and romantic atmosphere. The project to use this prize to create a new waterfall was one more reason for them to win the prize.

Hanging gardens of Marqueyssac

In the Marqueyssac gardens, tribute is paid to the garden artists, discreet artisans of the park's splendour. They will now have a film and a space entirely dedicated to them: "the gardener's workshop". In addition, you can discover an exhibition dedicated to posters and illustrations by Marius Rossillon, known as O'Galop, great-grandfather of Kléber Rossillon, the owner. O'Galop was the designer of the Michelin man.

Topiary art in the gardens of the Manoir d'Eyrignac

With 300 plant sculptures made of boxwood, yew, ivy and hornbeam, the gardens of the Manoir d'Eyrignac in Salignac Eyvigues are a reference point for topiary art. Classified as a "Remarkable Garden", they are one of the most visited in the Dordogne-Périgord. Throughout the year, you can admire the delicate lacework in shades of green thanks to a unique know-how : arabesques perched like a painting on a French flower bed, spiral buttresses or balls and boxwood cones bordering the basins. Here, topiaries are king. A different experience: On Mondays in summer, don't miss the "Happy picnic" in the Eyrignac Gardens. An open-air party in the gardens of the Manoir de Eyrignac, with a DJ, cocktail bar, fireworks and a unique dress code: white.

A different contemporary style in the gardens of l'Imaginaire

Unique in Europe, these vast contemporary gardens in the heart of the town of Terrasson-Lavilledieu were created in 1996 by the landscape architect Kathryn Gustafson. A route of 13 squares on more than 6 squares was designed to rediscover the history of Man and Gardens over the centuries. A heritage site of the 20th century, these gardens are part of the circuit of the most remarkable gardens in Europe.

A refreshing fantasy in the water gardens

Located on the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman villa in Carsac Aillac, these water gardens are astonishingly serene, with their water lilies, lotus and other aquatic plants. If walking on water remains a myth, it becomes almost a reality with the aquatic labyrinth of the “water garden”, whose design is unique in Europe. Don’t miss the fixed walkways (550 m long) with water flowers, as well as waterfalls and plants with the refinement worthy of a Garden of Eden…

Gardens of the Chartreuse du Colombier

Located near the medieval village of Limeuil, these gardens, classified as "Remarkable Gardens", are among the favourites of lovers of exceptional gardens and beautiful mansions (from the 17th and 18th centuries). In this bucolic setting, flower beds and fragrant shrubs, flat strips of old roses, peonies and bulbs are arranged with simplicity and elegance. More surprises await you, such as a large ornamental garden, inspired by Florentine plants, with a basin, fountain, etc.

Scultures Literary Gardens

In the one hectare park of the literary sculpture gardens in Blis-et-Born, you will discover sculptures illustrating the most beautiful quotes from French writers and poets. This artistic journey (with ten works) passes through centuries-old oak trees and a poetic orchard. This is the opportunity to experience a moment suspended in a dreamlike universe.

Quiet Gardens

Close your eyes. Soak up the atmosphere of this romantic Eden on the banks of the Dronne River. Covering an area of around 5 hectares, between Brantôme and Bourdeilles, the " Jardins Tranquilles " are a mix of formal and natural green spaces offering various plant environments, from a Japanese garden to an Italian garden, as well as "green rooms". This is a lovely place, ideal for taking a break and recharging your batteries... in peace.
