Caterers and tearooms are Parisian must-haves, and these five brands offer gourmet Yule logs every year.

Angelina A Parisian institution famous for its hot chocolate and ‘Mont-Blanc’ (a chestnut cream delight), Angelina presents a delicious collection of Yule logs every year. Chef Christophe Appert regularly concocts a classic log and a more creative log, all of course very chocolatey. Angelina

Ladurée This flagship brand of French macaroons needs no introduction. Every winter, Ladurée offers a signature log. For example, in 2023, pastry chef Julien Alvarez came up with a beautiful line of trompe-l'œil macaroons, creamy and colourful, as well as a festive tall log. Ladurée also offers a range of bûchettes, which can be enjoyed on their own as soon as you leave the shop. Ladurée

Lenôtre A Parisian favourite, this luxury caterer invents the most refined Yule logs every winter. We love their fruit and chocolate combinations, their magical decorations like the luxury version of the chalet, and their childlike inspirations like the toboggan made up of pieces of milk and dark chocolate. Lenôtre

Fauchon Delicatessen and exquisite caterer, Fauchon has been a favourite with Parisians for over 130 years. To find a Yule log in Paris, head to Place de la Madeleine, where the chefs create a crunchy, melt-in-the-mouth delight every year. We loved chef Sébastien Monceaux's log in a winter tent, nestled in the heart of an ice floe and surrounded by snow-covered fir trees. Fauchon

Pierre Hermé The well-known king of macaroons, Pierre Hermé is also the king of logs. The flavours in the mouth have made the house famous, like Ispahan, a gourmet combination of rose and lychee. Pierre Hermé

Parisians and gourmets from all over the world salivate at the windows of these renowned pastry chefs, each with their own signature Yule log.

Pâtisserie Yann Couvreur A pastry prodigy, chef Yann Couvreur revisits the classics, from viennoiseries to must-have pastries (Paris-Brest, lemon tart, flan...), and makes them even more delicious. And he couldn't do better than revisit the Yule log! His festive creations always feature his totem animal, the fox. A child's delight, yet still demanding. Yann Couvreur

At Christophe Michalak, the classic Christmas logs focus on flavour. He uses praline, pistachio, fruit and vanilla to perfection. The chef also regularly prepares a collector's log, dedicated to the cinema, with an Oriental touch, or in the shape of a Christmas tree. Whatever he's cooking up for the festive season, the great Christophe Michalak makes our taste buds sparkle. Christophe Michalak

Christophe Adam We know him for his ‘éclairs de génie’, but Christophe Adam also creates exquisite and touching Yule logs. In the form of XXL eclairs, decorated with a giant chocolate bear or adorned with large, colourful sweets: the pastry chef's logs rival each other in creativity. Every year, the L'éclair de Génie window displays are a delight to behold. L'éclair de Génie

In Paris, you don't just go to the Palaces to sleep... You have tea and drinks at the bar. And then, of course, there's the Yule log.

Plaza Athénée Jean Imbert, the legendary winner of the Top Chef TV show, is at the helm of the Plaza Athénée, creating elegant, gourmet Yule logs. A tribute to Ardèche chestnuts, an ode to spices and dark chocolate, with hints of orange. In the shape of a chalet one year, or a mountain the next, the chef also delights us visually. We're happy to enjoy his Yule log on the patio of the Parisian Palace in a spirit of 100% luxury and festivity. Plaza Athénée

Le Meurice This is the most popular tea time in Paris! At Le Meurice, Cédric Grolet, famous for his trompe-l'œil fruit creations, offers a range of Yule logs based on different recipes. Elegant visuals, finely chiselled details and a focus on seasonal produce, the whole of Paris awaits the pastry chef's creations with impatience. A particular favourite is his log featuring the Rue de Rivoli, with praline crunch, hazelnut, fleur de sel, vanilla caramel, hazelnut biscuit and hazelnut milk-infused mousse. Le Meurice

Le Peninsula Famous for her surprising combinations (yoghurt-fennel or vanilla-tobacco), Anne Coruble creates aesthetic and tasty Christmas logs at the Peninsula, a Parisian Palace. Whether she's revisiting her flagship desserts, like this log combining fennel and preserved lemon with blackcurrant and fir bud vinegar, or innovating with a delicious combination of truffle and hazelnut, the chef never ceases to surprise.
