Legend has it that Princess Pyrene was seduced by Hercules as he was on his way to battle. When the hero departed, Pyrene, heartbroken, fled into the forest where she died. Upon his return, Hercules learned of what had transpired and decided to build her a tomb as high as his love. Thus, the Pyrenees were born, an imposing mountain range that separates France from the Iberian Peninsula with peaks exceeding 3,000 meters. Our article speaks of these mountains, or rather, our journey through these mountains – a voyage into summits ranging from 420 to 3,000 meters in altitude.
