More unusual, more fun, more sporting... Here's a selection of original activities to enjoy this winter in the mountain resorts of the Pyrenees.

Setting up your easel in the snow-covered Ossau Valley

This season, the Pyrenean resorts of Artouste and Gourette will be taking you and all your watercolour equipment to the heart of the most beautiful landscapes in the Ossau Valley. A snowshoeing expedition punctuated by photo breaks, sketching and observation time. After a picnic lunch in the sunshine, you'll set up your easel on a powdery lookout to try your hand at painting. All in the company of an artist guide.

Yooning down the slope at Ax 3 Domaines

Tobogganing isn't just for children, or at the bottom of the slopes. Thanks to the yooner, a modern version of the paret - a funny old-fashioned machine with a long wooden runner and a board to sit on - you can hurtle down the steepest ski runs in Ax 3 Domaines with trajectories similar to those of skiers. It's a new way of skiing that's all the rage, as it allows non-skiers to follow their friends down the slopes. Thrills guaranteed!
