Every year during the Cannes Film Festival, stars from all over the world are expected on the Croisette. The sumptuous hotels that welcome these prestigious guests are also in the spotlight. From the Carlton hotel to the Eden Roc and the mythical Martinez: a brief overview of the most beautiful star suites in Cannes.
Hotel Majestic, the Christian Dior suite
The embodiment of glamour and refinement, the Majestic is one of the most sumptuous hotels in Cannes. A mythical place where the Art Deco aesthetic is present in every corner of the establishment... Its proximity to the Palais des Festivals (less than 100 metres) makes the Majestic a very popular address for stars... From Robert de Niro to Gérard Depardieu, not forgetting Catherine Deneuve, they all want to stay there to enjoy its chic setting, its garden, its private beach where they can indulge in the joys of idleness with elegance. It is even possible to slip into the shoes of a member of the Cannes Festival jury by privatizing the hotel's cinema room, the Cinémathèque Diane.
Covering an area of 450 m², the Christian Dior suite is one of the most prestigious on the Croisette. With its unobstructed view of the Mediterranean Sea, it features the codes of the famous fashion house. A contemporary and minimalist chic decoration where Louis XVI style furniture blends perfectly with more modern pieces: a rotunda inspired by the ceiling of the Avenue Montaigne boutique, Louis XVI style tables, red cushions with pleated patterns, a Pullman armchair, a replica of the designer's personal desk... It has already welcomed stars and Dior muses such as Charlize Theron, Kirsten Dunst and Bella Hadid...
Hotel Martinez, the Penthouse suite
With its Art Deco style, its private beach and its breathtaking view of the Mediterranean, the Martinez is one of the most emblematic luxury hotels on the Croisette... Listed since 2001 in the general inventory of cultural heritage, it is part of the Cannes legend! With its 410 rooms and suites, as well as two terrace flats, the Martinez is the largest hotel in Cannes. The two Penthouse suites, which cover more than 1,250 m² with a large terrace and film decor, are the most spectacular in the hotel. Located on the 7th floor, they overlook the bay of Cannes offering a magical view of the Lérins Islands. Magical!
Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, the Eden Roc suite
Outside the city, far from the hustle and bustle of Cannes, the Eden Roc is one of the most most popular addresses for celebrities. Located south of Cap d'Antibes, in the heart of century-old pine forests, this mythical Palace attracts prestigious guests. Since its creation in 1870, the Eden Roc has seen the greatest stars, from Ernest Hemingway to Nicole Kidman, including Rita Hayworth, Liz Taylor, John Lennon and Sharon Stone. With its famous saltwater pool carved into its rock, this majestic setting has been a source of inspiration for many artists. Francis Scott Fitzgerald was inspired by this setting to write his novel Gatsby the Magnificent. Located on the top floor of the Eden Roc pavilion, the Eden Roc suite is the most luxurious in the Palace. A fabulous setting, with a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean and the Lerins Islands. The suite includes a living room, two large bathrooms, an XXL dressing room, an outdoor whirlpool bath... which have already made Madonna and Sharon Stone happy, among others!
Carlton Hotel, Grace Kelly Suite
The Carlton, this mythical hotel opened in 1913, is probably the place that best perpetuates the glamour of the Cannes Festival. It has seen the greatest names in names of the cinema: Sean Connery, Liz Taylor, Greta Garbo... Or more recently Quentin Tarantino, Brad Pitt or Uma Thurman who regularly stay there during regularly during the fortnight. A place forever associated with the 7th art since Alfred Hitchcock even filmed some scenes of "The Hound in the Rack", with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant, including a famous kissing scene between the two stars. Film lovers can also stay in the Alfred Hitchcock Suite. One of the most beautiful suites of the Carlton Hotel is dedicated to the actress Grace Kelly, who later became Princess of Monaco. Located on the 7th floor of the hotel, it juxtaposes the Cary Grant Suite and the Kirk Douglas Suite.
The jewel of the Côte d'Azur, the aptly named "grande dame" has been given a facelift in 2021 and 2022, with a renovated Belle Epoque façade and interiors redesigned by architect Tristan Auer (new wings, Mediterranean garden, cabins for relaxation, XXL swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness area). To celebrate its reopening, 2,000 works of art in all disciplines (ceramics, glass sculpture, photography, engraving, painting) have been installed in the suites and throughout the hotel.
Mondrian Hotel, the Signature Suite
There's something new on La Croisette! The former Grand Hotel is reopening under a new name: Le Mondrian, a 5-star luxury hotel with 75 rooms, an oasis of greenery (the only garden on the famous boulevard) and direct access to the very commercial Rue d'Antibes. The most beautiful rooms are on the eleventh floor, where the Signature Suite - with its beautiful terrace - offers one of the most beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea. It must be said that the hotel is the highest on the Croisette!
Hotel Majestic, the Melody Suite
The Mélodie suite, with sea view, is one of the most beautiful star suites in Cannes. The decoration is inspired by Henri Verneuil's film Melodie en sous-sol with Jean Gabin and Alain Delon. In 1963, the director shot several scenes of the film in the famous hotel. Portraits of the two film icons hang on the walls. Located on the 7th floor, the suite covers 150 m². It includes a large and luxurious living room and two large bedrooms, offering an exceptional view of the Mediterranean.
Five Seas Hotel, Top of Five Secret Suite
Perched at the top of the Five Seas Hotel, part of the Design Hotels collection, the Top of Five suite is one of Cannes' best kept secrets. An intimate cocoon of contemporary and discreet luxury to be shared by two, accessible via a hidden staircase. This cosy 40 m² nest also has a beautiful terrace overlooking the rooftops of Cannes, the port or the historic Suquet district. Contemporary art lovers will opt for the Terrace Suite, a real art gallery decorated with works of art by local artists such as the painter and sculptor David David.
