The museum, which was completely redesigned and renovated at the end of 2015, brings together in one place collections of prehistory, biological and cultural anthropology, as well as a center for research, teaching, training and dissemination on the evolution of Man and societies.

A journey of discovery of Man, from his origins to his future... Attached to the National Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Man is at the heart of a multidisciplinary scientific network.

A space for debate, an agora open to all

This privileged place addresses the major current issues in the human sciences. Take advantage of the vast spheres of exchange and life: atrium, auditorium, resource center, science balcony, educational workshops.

The evolution of Man

By crossing biological, social and cultural approaches, the permanent exhibition develops three main themes.

  • Who are we?
  • Where do we come from?
  • Where are we going?

The aim is to understand humans and their place in the living world, to tell the story of their origins and to question our margins of adaptation in tomorrow's world.

The tour is based on priceless collections: fossils of Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon men, the Paleolithic statuette known as the Venus of Lespugue, anatomical waxes... The collections of the Musée de l'Homme in Paris are among the most important in the world in the fields of prehistory and anthropology.

You will find elements of knowledge and understanding, and you will also discover that other societies approach these questions differently, reflecting our cultures, and provide other answers.

The museum spaces

The permanent exhibition is spread out along a continuous path on the two large curved naves superimposed.

The Atrium is located at the crossroads of the permanent exhibition and the various public spaces, which are easily accessible from there.
