The aim of the Dordogne Odyssey is to promote the natural, cultural and agricultural heritage linked to the Dordogne River. This event, organised every 2 years, will immerse you in the history of barges and bargemen.

10 days of entertainment on the Dordogne River

The next edition will take place in 2025. A traditional barge (a flat-bottomed boat used for transporting goods until the 19th century) will sail along the Dordogne River, between Argentat-sur-Dordogne in Corrèze and Libourne in Gironde.

The barge will be replaced by a sailing boat in Libourne, to sail to the south of Brittany and take part in the maritime event, the week of the Gulf of Morbihan.

Local producers and artisans will accompany the barge on its journey along the Dordogne River, and then the sailing boat during the Gulf of Morbihan Week.

The event will promote local identity and the natural, cultural and agricultural heritage of the Dordogne Valley, as well as its landscapes, gastronomy and legends.

Along the river and its piers, this is the journey proposed by “Odyssée Dordonha” in order to pass through the festive stages, historic cities and ports of the Dordogne River's commercial past.
