Paris 2024 in figures: record-breaking Games

329! This is the total number of events that will take place over the 18 days of the 2024 Olympic Games. On the menu for the 10,500 athletes and 206 delegations expected to attend are 28 traditional Olympic disciplines, from athletics to swimming and gymnastics, as well as four other disciplines: sport climbing, skateboarding, surfing and, for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, breaking. The 16 B-Boys and 16 B-Girls will be battling it out on the Place de la Concorde in Paris, which will be transformed into an open stage for the occasion. There will also be skateboarding, BMX freestyle and 3x3 basketball competitions!

No fewer than 41 Olympic venues and 20 Paralympic venues will be hosting the athletes, giving you the chance to embark on a grand tour of France! In addition to Paris (15 Olympic Games venues and 11 Paralympic Games venues) and the Paris region, nine venues have been selected in the French regions. Châteauroux will host the shooting events. Lyon, Nantes, Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille will share the football tournament, while Lille will host the finals of the men's and women's handball tournaments and the qualifying matches for the basketball tournaments. Marseilles will also be the sailing capital of the Olympics, which will be held for the first time in Tahiti, where surfers will take on the legendary Teaupo'o wave!

6 kilometres is the length of the route of the opening ceremony, which promises to be the most grandiose in the history of the Olympic Games: for the first time, it will take place outside a stadium, in the sumptuous setting of the banks of the Seine! From the Pont d'Austerlitz to the Pont d'Iéna, the parade of athletes on camera-equipped boats (80 giant screens will be installed along the route) will be punctuated by artistic performances, culminating in a grand finale at the Trocadéro.

22 Paralympic sports are scheduled as part of the 2024 Paralympic Games, including three open to athletes with a mental disability (Para athletics, Para swimming and Para table tennis) and three reserved for visually impaired athletes (Para judo, Goalball and Cecifoot or 5-a-side football). Over the 11 days of competition, no fewer than 549 events will bring together the 4,400 Paralympic athletes from 184 delegations. A symbol of the desire of the organisers of the Paris 2024 Games to create a dynamic to strengthen inclusion in society.

150,000 is the minimum number of jobs that will be created by the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. That's enough to give a serious boost to economic and social activity! Indeed, Paris 2024 is calling on or will call on 1,900 service providers, three quarters of which are very small businesses and 182 of which are part of the social economy. And when you're on holiday in France, you can't afford to miss out on sport: 5,000 local sports facilities have been renovated and made accessible for the Paris Games!

Once the Paris 2024 Games are over, 8,876 trees will be planted on the site of the Olympic and Paralympic Village in Seine-Saint-Denis, which will be transformed into an innovative city district with 6 hectares of green spaces, including a public park, and planted areas dedicated to pedestrians and soft mobility. Use of bio-sourced materials, geothermal energy and solar panels, architecture that encourages air circulation, accessibility of housing for people with reduced mobility... This new district of 2,800 homes, which will accommodate 6,000 residents, is aiming for environmental excellence - a veritable laboratory for the eco-responsible, functional city of the future!
