A Refined Selection of Exceptional Products

Located on the Rue de Sèvres in the Saint-Germain-dès-Près neighborhood, the Bon Marché Rive Gauche, created in 1852, is one of the first department stores in Paris. Today, it serves as a reference point - naturally, full of French refinement - of fashion, furniture, and cuisine.

The first store, Au Bon Marché, was opened in 1837 by the Videau brothers, who then teamed up with Astride and Marguerite Boucicaut in 1852. These sisters would launch the concept of a department store: a large assortment; fixed, well-displayed prices; open to the public with no obligation to buy anything; arranging the merchandise in rows; and the principle of "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back."

It was a shopping revolution. In 1869, their incredible commercial success allowed them to grow the store even further.

In 1910, by the initiative of Madame Boucicaut, a hotel was created nearby to house their clients: the Hôtel Lutétia, the first Art Déco hotel in Paris, and to this day one of the foremost hotels on the Rive Gauche.

In this elegant, refined store, products are meticulously arranged in different, thematic spaces. Skin creams, beauty products, and other body care can be found in the "Beauty Theater." Ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories in the "Fashion Appartment." "La Grande Epicerie de Paris," located in a building across the street, is a supermarket of the best products from across the world.

To take a breather from shopping, stop into one of the many different restaurants within the department store. Enjoy a chic snack at the Délicabar, taking in a little sunlight on its terrace when it's nice out. Dine at the Cave de la Grande Epicerie restaurant, the Balthazar, where you can taste a refreshingly simple cuisine and carefully selected wine.

Each year during the holidays, the window displays are always decorated with the spirit of the Rive Gauche's celebrations, fairytales, and amazement.

The windows are only one part of the most beautiful decorations in the store and a vast schedule of events created specially by the store.
