In Paris, baguettes are an art form! And with good reason: every year, the virtuosos in the field are hand-picked. In addition to its smell, its unique taste, the way it's baked and its irresistible crunch, the baguette must be between 55 and 65 cm long, weigh between 250 and 300 grams and contain no more than 18 grams of salt per kilo of flour. Would you like to taste the best baguette in Paris? It's right here...

N°1. Au Levain des Pyrénées (Paris 20th district)

The Levain des Pyrénées baguette, which has been awarded the title of Best Baguette of Paris 2023 after a fine 3rd place in 2018, owes its crispness and soft crumb to the young baker Steven Tharshan Selvarajah, who arrived a few years ago from Sri Lanka, where he was a law student. A well-deserved reward, as the talented baker has developed an allergy to flour. But "this job is my life". In a word: bravo, artisan! Au Levain des Pyrénées

N°2. Boulangerie Frédéric Comyn (Paris 15)

In 2022, it was Damien Dedun who won this coveted 1st prize, after being crowned double European baking champion (2017 and 2019). It was a reward for experience, as the baker began his career at the age of 14. And a taste for sharing, because the winner's main driving force is "the desire to please people". And he's succeeded!

Address: Boulangerie Frédéric Comyn, 88, rue de Cambronne 75015 Paris

N°3. Maison M'Seddi (Paris 14)

Initially promoted to 7th place in 2017, baker Mahmoud M'seddi finally came out on top in 2018, thanks to the crunchy, delicious taste of his traditional baguette, which was unanimously praised by the Parisian jury. His little secret: "I leave no stone unturned, maybe that's what makes the difference". He is now one of the official suppliers of the Elysée Palace.

Address: Boulangerie M'Seddi, 215 Boulevard Raspail, 75014 Paris

N°4. Le Grenier à Pain St Amand (Paris 15)

Honour to Djibril Bodian, the undisputed champion baker of Paris. Winner of the best baguette in 2010 and 2015, the bakery chain Le Grenier à Pain came second in 2018! But this time in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. More than just top-quality bread and Viennese pastries, this rustic yet authentic shop is always packed with gourmets. Weekend tip: get up early!

Le Grenier à Pain Address: 33 bis, rue Saint Amand, 75015.

N°5. Landemaine House

Yosuké Fujié is more than a baker, he's a creator as talented as he is discreet. Of Japanese origin, he has always managed to combine French know-how with Japanese standards. And it was at La Maison Landemaine that he learned excellence. It's a lucky house that has won two awards: 6th place for Best Baguette in 2013 and 5th place today. All its breads are said to be as surprising as they are divine.
