Renowned for its haute-couture fashion shows, luxury boutiques and young designers, Paris is the fashion capital par excellence. If, like Parisiennes, you have a passion for fashion, here are six designers you should get to know on your next visit to the capital.

Désordre Urbain

The concept of Désordre Urbain is a ‘designer-dedicated boutique where shopping is feminine’. This concept store brings together around 50 designers. You’ll will find unique pieces and limited editions in an organised disorder, with dresses of various styles rubbing shoulders. With floral, baroque and romantic patterns, there’s something for all tastes and seasons – and notably, prices are affordable.

Bleu Tango Paris

Fan of watercolours? You’ll love the Bleu Tango Paris brand. With her light brushstrokes, designer Lou Ripoll Robes creates original, quirky pieces. Acrobats taking flight on your dress? Tick. Canvases inspired by great masters like Rembrandt, Fragonard, Velasquez and da Vinci on the same shirt dress? Tick. The icing on the cake is the brand’s commitment to eco-friendly production.

Heroines

Who else but a literature enthusiast to create a brand called Heroines? Originally, the designer made her name by creating collections inspired by characters from novels. It has since turned to a more vintage style. ‘To embody what we are with impertinence, humour and simplicity’ is the motto of the brand, based in Paris’ Marais district. Short dresses, long dresses, waisted or flared, round or low necks... there’s something for all body types.

Sézane

Sézane might never have seen the light of day had its creator not had a genius idea. It all started in 2005, when her sister moved to London and left her a bag full of clothes. Full of passion and ideas, she began to customise the clothes and resell them on eBay. And so it began. She decided to launch an e-shop in 2008 and focus on micro-collections. Sales exploded. She opened her first boutique in Paris. Dresses in lace, silk, linen and cashmere, with floral, checked or plain prints – it’s a must-have brand.

Make My Lemonade

Haven’t heard of Make My Lemonade? It’s never too late to get to know this brand, which has become a staple in Paris in just a few years. It all started from a lifestyle blog run by Lisa Gachet, baptised the ‘queen of DIY’. This Bordeaux native, who loves to ‘tinker’, ‘draw’ and ‘cut out’, shares her creations. She had the brilliant idea of providing a monthly pattern for a DIY item of clothing – and the business took off. Since then, Lisa has opened a concept store by the Canal Saint-Martin in Paris. You’ll find the designer’s favourite pieces here – floral, polka dot and striped dresses – and DIY workshops are also held regularly, to inspire customers to make their own outfits.
