The ninth edition of the regatta began on 23rd August and runs until 2nd September, all around Corsica. It’s one of the flagship traditional sailing events in the Mediterranean.
Beautiful and elegant, the monohulls have found their true calling in the Mediterranean with the Corsica Classic. It’s open to yachts of tradition and is part of the official circuit organised by the International Committee of the Mediterranean and the French Association of Traditional Yachts (AFYT).
This year, the 218-mile course promises to be unforgettable between Ajaccio and Saint-Florent, with stops in seven ports along Corsican shores for the first time in its history: Propriano, Bonifacio, Saint-Cyprien, Sari, Solenzara, Bastia and Macinaggio.
Participants in the 2018 event come from Switzerland, Germany, England, Italy and the USA, to do battle on the coast of the Isle of Beauty following the rules of classic yachting.
1,000 kilometres of coast ideal for boating
The organisers promise an event that combines prestige, elegance, tradition, sports performance, discovery and adventure all around the Corsican coast. The past eight events have been an enormous success, last year’s involving a fleet of over 23 yachts – proof of the enthusiasm of their owners.
It’s also an opportunity for Corsica to celebrate its exceptional beauty and to assert itself as a privileged destination for many boaters, with its 1,000 kilometers of coastline at the heart of the Mediterranean.
