Are you looking for a romantic getaway? Set off along the 130-km-long Mimosa Route with your other half and discover the eight magical stops on the way, along the French Riviera. The best time to explore this route is between January and March. Spend some quality time together as you enjoy delicious lunch breaks, visit charming villages and watch, hand-in-hand, as nature takes on shades of gold. Let’s go!
Day 1: Bormes-les-Mimosas as a couple
Bormes-les-Mimosas, FranceSet off from Bormes-les-Mimosas, the mimosa capital of the Var, with over 90 varieties of this little yellow flower with an exquisite fragrance. Wander around the old town and visit Brégançon Fort, the French President’s holiday residence. Don’t miss the magnificent floats at the flower parade at the end of February.
For lunch, head to the Café du Progrès, one of the oldest cafés in the old town of Bormes.
Enjoy an evening meal and overnight stay at the Bellevue, with a fantastic outdoor seating area overlooking the tiled roofs and lush vegetation of Bormes. If you’re looking for something a bit more upmarket, opt for Le Mirage with a panoramic terrace overlooking the sea.
Day 2: From Bormes-les-Mimosas to Rayol-Canadel (17 km)
Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, FranceOn the second day of your route, you’ll be heading towards Rayol-Canadel, a simply charming village built up on the Corniche des Maures coastal path. Go on a self-guided or guided tour of the Domaine du Rayol gardens, and have lunch at the estate’s Café des Jardiniers.
In the afternoon, explore the underwater wildlife of the Baie du Figuier as a couple. With a guide from the Domaine du Rayol, come on a tour of the fascinating underwater world, departing from the beach. In the evening, get a good night’s sleep at La Villa Douce.
Day 3: From Rayol-Canadel to Sainte Maxime (32 km)
Sainte-Maxime, FranceTake a leisurely stroll hand-in-hand along the pretty, narrow streets in the village of Saint Maxime. Go on a guided walking tour through the vineyards and make some new memories together. If you come to the village early February, you’ll see the election of Miss Mimosa at the flower parade.
For lunch, how about an impromptu picnic on the beach? And for dessert, taste the heavenly cakes and pastries from Charles Pierruges.
Spend the afternoon on the beach, and then enjoy an evening meal as you admire the sunset at Les Planches, a restaurant where local production and seasonal products are a priority.

Day 4: From Sainte Maxime to Saint Raphaël (24 km)
Saint-Raphaël, FranceBeaches, coves, the Ile d’Or. Saint-Raphaël is an unmissable stop along the Mimosa Route. Go on a guided tour in the Estérel mountains, in search of mimosa.
If you are visiting the area early March, head to the seafront promenade for the mimosa carnival.
In the afternoon, take some time out at Confidentiel, for a relaxing massage and a dip in the swimming pool. You will also appreciate the restaurant and hotel there.
Day 5: From Saint Raphaël to Mandelieu-la-Napoule (32 km)
Mandelieu-la-Napoule, FranceIn Mandelieu-la-Napoule, go along the Route d’Or (golden route) and discover the biggest mimosa forest in Europe. Here, everything is about this tree: there’s the “fête du mimosa” celebration, a children’s carnival, the flower parade, the excursion entitled “Du mimosa au parfum” (from mimosa to perfume), and so much more.
In the evening, enjoy Mediterranean cuisine with a view at the Blue Lemon, and then stay at the fabulous hotel, La Calanque, with a shaded garden and view of the bay.
Day 6: From Mandelieu-la-Napoule to Tanneron and Pégomas (13 km)
Tanneron et PégomasSet amid 200 hectares of mimosa, the pretty little town of Tanneron is truly the mimosa capital of this forest to which it lends its name. From December to March, you can visit the farms in Tanneron.
Then head to Pégomas, a 15-minute drive away, and visit the mimosa garden.
You can stay here overnight, at a charming bed & breakfast called Les Chambres de Mon Moulin.
Day 7: From Pégomas to Grasse (17 km)
Grasse, FranceThis is a great way to end your romantic getaway, calling upon all the senses.
