In the heart of eastern Paris, nestled between Bastille and Nation, an old iron foundry with large grey walls will metamorphose into a XXL exhibition venue. Through the magic of multimedia, visitors will be able to wander into the very centre of works of art projected with 360° views.

The principle of the Atelier des Lumières, is that the visitor is a guest within a work of art. This new Parisian venue will carry you on a unique sensory adventure as you discover the great names in the history of Art.

The use of 140 video projectors and a spatial sound system are used in the show. It is unique among its genre thanks to its monumental dimensions – an impressive 3,300 m2 of surfaces and walls up to 10 meters high.

Immersive exhibitions

It was at the famous Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux de Provence in the south of France, that Culturespaces, specialists in the development of monuments, museums and art centres, put together their first ground breaking digital immersive exhibitions.

Their secret for this innovative art form? The AMIEX process (Art and Music Immersive Experience). It is an incredible sensorial feast. As the music starts, more than 3,000 images are set in motion and using the power of technology, in the blink of an eye, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported into the heart of the paintings.

Experience Gustav Klimt's masterpiece The Kiss as never before. The tormented portraits of Egon Schiele in extra large format and the whirlwind of vivid colours of Friedensreich Hundertwasser's paintings are an artistic thrill. The Atelier des Lumières will commence its first season with the Vienna school of painting in the spotlight and two programmes in the Great Hall (long and short shows). Take your time and linger to truly enjoy this magnificent performance. The great Marc Chagall will be one of the next artists to be featured.

Totally immersive, the technology displayed at Ateliers des Lumières makes the visit particularly attractive for children and teenagers who might be reluctant to visit a museum. No more excuses – this is fun as well as educational.

With its uncompromising industrial bones, pillars, nooks, drying tower and water tank, the huge dimensions of the 19th century former iron foundry of the company Plichon make an idea canvas for the digital art show. The space has been completely renovated to host the Atelier des Lumières whilst retaining the integrity of its industrial character.

The Ateliers des Lumières with its vibrantly animated space will amaze and delight and enable visitors to interact with great works of art. It promises to be the coolest new cultural venue in Paris.
